[Canada Day Rockfest]

This July 1st first join us in Stanley Park for the first annual
Deadmans Island: Canada Day Rockfest. Deadmans Island's will be
throwing open their gates and become transformed into the ultimate
summer rock festival. Seven of Vancouver's hottest Indie bands will be
performing LIVE against the backdrop of downtown Vancouver and the
beautiful Coal Harbour all afternoon long blended with live DJ's
spinning hot grooves throughout the day.

Deadman's Island: Canada Day Rockfest

Deadman's Island, so named because it was once the site of native
burial grounds (and was later used by white settlers for the same
purpose), was the subject of much dispute until 1930 when the federal
government granted the city a 99-year lease on the island. The island
was extracted for military purposes in 1942 during World War II has
been a naval reserve facility and closed to the public since 1944.

Deadmans Island consists of a 1.5 kilometer shoreline with breathtaking
views of downtown Vancouver and Coal Harbour. The picnic area bbq pit
was donated to the island by Arnold Schwarzenegger during his filming
of the 2000 motion picture hit "The Sixth Day" at this location.

This July 1st the gates of Deadmans Island will open for this Canada
Day rock celebration.
