I purchased the "Na Caberfeidh: Rare Air" album about 20 years ago, by
the Canadian folk innovators who included a bagpiper, Patrick O'Gorman
in their line-up. Of course, I loved it.

I did not or have not ventured further into the catalog of this sadly
defunct outfit (as I have heard of it) in the interim, but now I would
like to get my feet wet with another purchase, even if used, even if
vinyl.

Some of the other titles I have heard of are:

Mad Plaid
Hard To Beat
Primeval

Which of these might be my next best purchase, or if you were/are a
fan, and/or which do you feel is their strongest offering? Even if you
own only one of the above, I'd love to hear from you. But if you
purchased two or more, of course you'll be able to compare them for
me...if you are so kind.

If there is a better place to post my question, or the nature of it,
guidance in lieu of above would also be most appreciated.

Thank-you to anyone who can help.

Mad Plaid
Hard To Beat
Primeval
I'd go with "Mad Plaid." The other two albums, to my taste, ventured a
bit too far into free-form, jazz-like styles, which I simply didn't
enjoy as much as the rather more structured, but still inventive
approach they took on "Mad Plaid" and their earlier albums.

Thanks for the tip Sean. Sounds like something closer to the 2nd
album, which I liked.

I have them all and here's

Mad Plaid - weak, but it has interesting moments.. for completeists only

Hard To Beat - my favorite of the bunch, but very contemporary. Nothing at
all like the first CD. It's... well... hard to beat.

Primeval - they headed into hard jazz and pop, very well done, I personally
LIKE jazz and rock, so this one is my second favorite. Their version of
Roland Kirk's "Volunteer Slavery" is simply strange and wonderful, IMHO.
