North American VS Foreign Blues Music?

Do you think North American blues is better because of the music or only
because you understand the lyrics?

I have always believed that Blues music is different than all other forms of
music. Other artists decide what they want to say (Lyrics) and add a nice
melody but with the Blues the music is the way to communicate the message
and the words are added afterward usually as part of the music itself. So
other languages don't bother me as much when we are talking about the blues.

On my site I feature artists from all over the world (many singing in
English) from Sweden, Argentina, Portugal, Hungary, Norway, Finland,
Austria, Czech republic, and my favourite foreign country, Canada. Great
artists playing amazing music.

Yes. :)

I think the question is really whether non-black blues is as good. I think
there's a strong case for saying that most of white America didn't get
Blues until the British ( bowled over by black American musicians like
Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson etc) brought it back to America in white
packaging. Of course that's not the whole story.

Well, I didn't see it as a black vs. white thing, I saw it as N.
America vs. other countries. That said, I'd put BB King above
Clapton.

I had a friend, years ago who maintained that in order to really play the
blues you need to be black. On some level I think that's true. Not that
others can't play it, but I'm not sure we really "get it" the same way.
That said, I play a lot of blues gigs, so I obviously think white guys can
hang.
