Quite often UK folk musicians play the festival.

Well, I said because often UK performers play the
festival but I don't think any are this year, the
focus is more on local talent this year. But that
local talent, including The Once and A Crowd of Bold
Sharemen, have been influenced by UK folk music down
through the centuries. Oh, but Denis Parker is
playing some acoustic blues and he is originally
from the UK. Also Martin and Eliza Carthy played a
recent festival.

Also mainly I crossposted it to uk.music.folk since
I thought that some UK folkies might be interested
in taking a trip over here for the festival. Similarly,
when I was in Vancouver the Rogue Folk Club people
told members about the Edmonton and Winnipeg festivals.

I see it's also for Labrador. Goose Bay? If so the Goose has come
up in the cultural world since I used to go there -- my enduring
memory is falling sideways out of a taxi into a snowdrift -- 151
and rum has that effect on a naive young co-pilot.

People think I'm mad because one of the things I miss about the
RAF is the Goose. All that space, the clear air and... skiffle
would be good. Up to your oxters in snow powder, playing one of
those carbon fibre mandolins, belting out Rock My Soul while your
feet and the inside of your nose freezes. What's not to like?

The festival is held in St. John's but there is always
at least one act from Labrador. This year on
Sunday afternoon there is a session called
Our Labrador.
